Guidelines

We are all made of stories.

House of Leorah is a storytelling, publishing, podcasting, and media company dedicated to preserving stories, amplifying voices, exploring imagination, and creating meaningful content across current and future formats. These guidelines explain what we publish, how we review work, and what contributors can expect.

Minimum age requirement (18+)

Contributors must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Users under the age of eighteen (18) may not submit content, participate in interviews, appear on podcasts, submit media, create contributor accounts, or otherwise contribute to House of Leorah. Any submission made in violation of this requirement may be removed without notice.

What we publish

We publish stories, creative writing, essays, memoir, poetry, letters, advice, interviews, and experimental work across a wide range of genres and formats. Current and future categories include — without limitation — stories, fiction, sci-fi, horror, romance, fantasy, poetry, memoir, journalism, historical writing, podcasts, audio stories, video essays, and formats not yet defined.

Submission standards & warranties

By submitting content, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • You are the creator, owner, or authorized rights holder of the submitted content.
  • You possess all rights, permissions, licenses, and authority necessary to submit the content.
  • The content does not knowingly infringe upon the copyright, trademark, publicity rights, privacy rights, intellectual property rights, or other legal rights of any third party.
  • The content has not been unlawfully copied, reproduced, or misappropriated from another source.
  • Any third-party material included has been properly licensed, authorized, or otherwise legally incorporated.
  • It does not contain unlawful, defamatory, or knowingly false content.
  • You have removed identifying information relating to third parties where appropriate.
  • You have obtained permission where legally required.

Contributor communications

By submitting content, contributors agree that House of Leorah may contact them about their submission, publication opportunities, editorial questions and revisions, podcast invitations, interview requests, future House of Leorah projects, and legal or administrative matters related to their submission.

Submitting work does not sign you up for the newsletter — that's a separate opt-in.

Indemnification

Contributors agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless House of Leorah, its owners, editors, contributors, contractors, affiliates, successors, assigns, and representatives from and against any claims arising from or relating to submitted content, copyright infringement claims, intellectual property disputes, defamation, privacy or publicity rights claims, false statements, misrepresentations, or breaches of contributor warranties.

Right to refuse service

House of Leorah reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to reject submissions, reject contributor participation, reject interviews, reject podcast appearances, reject publication requests, remove content, archive content, suspend accounts, restrict access, ban contributors, or decline publication without explanation. House of Leorah is under no obligation to publish, maintain, or continue displaying any content.

Editorial process

All submissions are reviewed by our editorial team. We may accept, reject, edit, rewrite, condense, expand, anonymize, or adapt submissions for publication. Editorial decisions are final. Submission does not guarantee publication.

Anonymity

Where offered, anonymous publication requests will be honored when reasonably possible but cannot be guaranteed. House of Leorah reserves the right to anonymize submissions at its discretion.

Content ownership and license

Contributors retain ownership of their original submitted content. However, by submitting content, contributors grant House of Leorah a broad, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, edit, adapt, distribute, display, publish, archive, promote, create derivative works from, and otherwise commercially exploit the submitted content across all current and future media channels. This license survives removal requests, account closure, termination of participation, and future changes to the platform.

Derivative works may include edited versions, condensed versions, expanded versions, fictionalized versions, dramatized versions, anonymous retellings, audio adaptations, podcast episodes, narrated stories, video adaptations, AI-assisted adaptations, visual artwork, anthologies, and future creative formats.
